@narF@mstdn.ca hey there! I'm very new, as is Bonfire. There are definitely rough spots still very much in need of polish for it to have broad appeal. That said, the framework and configurability is very intriguing, and I feel like we are a few months, not years from seeing a solid if still quirky release candidate.
One of my big gripes with software - all kinds - is that UX/UI and onboarding users is left to the end of a systems design process, and then given a quick moment to add comment. Since I first heard of Bonfire, I've been hoping its promise of being something you build up as the community needs could be what overcomes that flaw.
Would you be interested in helping out if I find a way to nudge this forward? I want to look towards finding a community that wants online presence and collaboration, and seeing what I can do with this to suit their needs. Rather than trying to deliver a platform/server "off the shelf" and find a community that wants to bother with it. 😁
You're probably right, you already WERE following me ...
Hello to anyone who has followed me back in confusion, as I followed you but you thought we were already connected ...
johannab is further fragmenting as I've hopped on to some exploratory opportunities with the @Bonfire@bonfire.cafe / @bonfire@indieweb.social community platform. I imported my follows from my most active Mastodon instance, which it seems will have alerted you all over again that I followed you. Apologies, if you want to un-follow or block THIS present, but temporary, alt account I shall take no offense.
I'm hoping to find in Bonfire a truly configurable platform that can be built by and with the user communities who need it, rather than just presenting groups a "close enough" or "least bad" option amongst out-of-the-box systems.
This is a bonfire demo instance for testing purposes. This is not a production site. There are no backups for now. Data, including profiles may be wiped without notice. No service or other guarantees expressed or implied.
