A federal vaccine advisory committee has voted to end a longstanding recommendation that all U.S. babies get the hepatitis B vaccine on the day they’re born.

The incompetent #ConspiracyTheory laden #ACIP voted 8-3 to eliminate a recommendation dating to 1991 for every child to receive a 1st dose of a #hepatitisB #vaccine shortly after birth. The panel said the newborn shot is no longer necessary for babies born to mothers who test negative for the virus. They suggest parents of those children delay the first dose for at least 2 months & consult with their doctors about whether or when to begin the 3-dose series.

There’s a reason I keep tagging #HealthyIfYoureWealthy, #SocialCleansing & #eugenics on #ACIP posts.

While we can all say these people are nuts, we’re not listening to their advice, that’s great, but this “official” federal advisory committee’s guidelines are how #HealthInsurance determines what #vaccines they cover & what you have to pay out-of-pocket.

Meaning #poor families won’t be able to #afford to choose differently than what these incompetent #ConsiracyTheorist #AntiVaxxers have chosen.

This kind of #policy making — the #ACIP childhood #vaccine schedule, combined with not extending #ACA subsidies, adding #WorkRequirements to #SNAP / #FoodStamps & #Medicaid — all coming simultaneously in 2026 — is going to be an assault upon the #poor people of the #UnitedStates all while we are in a #Kshaped #economy with the #WealthGap ever widening.
