“The #UK #tech sector is cutting #graduate #jobs dramatically – down 46 percent in the past year, with another 53 percent drop projected, according to figures from the Institute of Student Employers ( #ISE).

The culprit? #AI is already doing the entry-level work graduates used to perform like routine #coding, #DataAnalysis, and basic #digital tasks. #Companies still need tech #talent, but they're hiring experienced #workers instead of #training newcomers.”

@peterrenshaw

So what this will mean is that the experience work they need will never develop. They’ll be using the current pool of talent.

The assumption I suppose is that AGI will happen soon and they won’t need anyone

@GhostOnTheHalfShell I’m trying to work this one out. One scenario is the businesses doing this will go out of business and know it. Or they can imagine they can hire the from the⚡️infinite technical pool of talent⚡️🤪

@peterrenshaw

Maybe the majority of technical expertise will trudge off to an intentional community or founded an intentional community or two, and apply all their engineering skills to solving real world problems like creating a very comfortable lifestyle from the environment without chopping it all down, of course.

A lot of very interesting things happen when human ingenuity is doing something truly interesting and worthwhile
