Expecting up to watch the new Katheryn Bigelow film this weekend, thought I'd share with you the data on female winners of the Best Director oscar:

Since 1976 when the first woman was nominated for the category, there have been a total of ten nominations, with Bigelow the first to win in 2009 for the Hurt Locker, followed by Chloé Zhao in 2020 for Nomandland & Jane Campion for Power of the Dog...

In the whole history of the Oscars, just ten women nominated & three winners!
