"disable your ad blocker" is the "take off the condom" of corporate media
@falcennial
> don't you love hard-hitting journalism?
@falcennial I’ve found with Safari (MacOS) you can select “reader mode” to view the page with your add blocker applied. Not sure about other browsers.
@falcennial Das Bild ist schief. Die wenigsten Frauen würden sagen, „Lass das Kondom weg“. Vielmehr verlangen Männer: „Machs mir ohne Gummi“. @kiefheim
there's no such thing as a perfect analo...
I almost drifted off at anal
@noondlyt 😂😂 that when ones ass goes to sleep
@falcennial by that standard customizing your cookie experience is the “just the tip” experience.
@falcennial
My recent habit, whenever a website tells me to disable the ad blocker, is to copy the site URL and paste it into #InternetArchive's "save page now" form…
Often, but not always, IA is able to save the whole page, without ads and without complaints about ad blockers.
@sloanlance ingenious! thank you for this crisp technique
@falcennial I see the theme of the day is condoms (as I have just been posting about them, too). 😂
@falcennial It's also the: we are ready for your internal examination.
@falcennial “We need to talk about your adblocker.”
No we don’t. We need to talk about the fact that you’re cool with asking your readers to run code on their machines that you didn’t write, haven’t vetted, and don’t even know where the hell it came from or what it does.
@matt slate works fine with JS completely disabled...which blocks that popup.
@falcennial And somehow it's all the same dudes (or websites created by those dudes) saying both.
Now?
Maybe later?
@jessamyn @falcennial or the guys that take it off while you’re not looking.
“it’s not as good for me with one on” LOL. Ffs.
@falcennial and that's why NOONE should ever do this!
- I'd rather leave than accept #PayOrOkay and other scummy shite.
@falcennial I'm going to nominate this one for the analogy of the year award 🙌🏻
@falcennial stop making ad blockers sound cool
@falcennial ad blocker is one of the few things keeping my sanity intact.
@falcennial "curl $URL | sudo sh" is the Linux user equivalent.
@falcennial God I love this community. People who see "cookies" and "ads" and say "absofuckinglutely not" are my people.
@falcennial If a website does that, that's the last time I'll visit it.
Mere blocking of advertising isn't enough.
@falcennial
In fact I don't care about adverts. I'm blocking 3rd party scripts and 3rd party cookies and trackers.
Adverts on CNN and BBC have served malware via the 3rd party scripts.
@raymaccarthy illuminating! thanks for this intel, Ray 🌻
may we win the war on ads!
@falcennial except you won't experience any pleasure
@mo @falcennial I get off on the numbness.
@mo @falcennial I get off on the numbness.
@falcennial umm what that means seems you are a tech guy teach me
@falcennial rawdogging my bing searches just feels better
