I got to take a lovely sunny hike today, and I saw some really cool and beautiful things. Like this delicate fern moss growing between the rings of a decomposing tree stump.

The same view, just a few seconds later, when a wind created some ripples. You can see their distortions at the surface of the water at the upper left of the photo, and at the lower right, the caustics have changed to a series of parallel lines

Some landscapes

A gray rocky shore in the bottom third of the photo, deep blue lake in the middle third, and blue sky with a few clouds at the horizon in the top third. We're looking East across lake Champlain, standing in New York, looking at Vermont on the far shore.

A forest scene. It's noon but we're in the north close to solstice, and the sun is low in the sky, casting long tree shadows towards us. The ground is partly brown, with lovely patches of bright green moss.
