If having an evil clown as a president isn't enough for you, there is further you can go. Currently free on #YouTube Movies & TV -- at least in the U.S. -- is the uber-cult classic comedy-horror extravaganza in the center ring: "Killer Klowns From Outer Space" (1988). I love this film. It's played strictly for laughs, but the actors all play their roles essentially straight. Most recognizable will be John Vernon as an angry cop, most familiar from his role as angry Dean Wormer in "Animal House" (1978).
The plot is simple. An interstellar spacecraft arrives on Earth, where it appears to be a circus tent. From the craft come an array of bizarre-looking clowns with an assortment of clownish tools and tricks -- almost all of them lethal. Why are the clowns killing and collecting the inhabitants of this small town?
Great theme song by "The Dickies", which has been widely covered and publicly performed by a wide variety of performers including The Dickies themselves right up to a few years ago at least -- it's quintessentially 80s!
So watch the film while it's free -- it could drop out of free status at any moment! And you may want to skip the cotton candy this time:
