Poet & The Roots. Dread Beat & Blood
To some extent British reggae has always been political in one way or another, but its epitome is this album showcasing (for the first time) Linton Kwesi Johnson's poetry against a dub-inflected backing. Its not comfortable listening but as a document of how politics can make music compelling there are few better examples. Its a reminder that music has meaning! Vital stuff!
