So let’s see if I can summarize this:

For a long time US certification was the gold standard that everyone else in the world recognized without question because it was technical, rigorous, and apolitical.

Now the problem is that the US has had trouble with certifying airplanes that are defective and kill people (because of slipping technical rigour and political meddling) so other nations’ technical, rigorous, apolitical agencies are now insisting that they need to take time to make the assessment themselves.

So mafia Don Trump’s brilliant solution to this problem is to baldly declare that airplane certification will simply be political from henceforth, and everyone just needs to accept whatever shit process the USA will have going forward.

I’m sure this will turn out well …
