The Internet Inflection Point on Trump's Fascism
Alec Watson ( #YouTube channel "Technology Connections") has just dropped a 90 minute video on renewable energy. Alec has been around YT for over 10 years and has around 3 million subs now I believe. I don't always agree with him, though the majority of my disagreements are not foundational, but we'll leave that aside for now.
I haven't seen every video he's presented, but this new one seems notable to me. The entire last segment is a political statement against Republicans, Trump, fascism, ICE, and ... well ... basically the same sort of stuff I've been continually spouting in my various venues (along with my technical and tech policy discussions), for, uh, quite some time. My sense is that Alex got seriously fed up.
This sort of thing is happening around the country, with writers, podcasters, video creators, and others who up to now have been mostly or completely politically essentially apolitical (at least publicly) now taking very public stances against the current fascist administration.
I believe an inflection point has been reached, of a kind never before seen in the history of the Internet (or its ancestor ARPANET for that matter), and I believe this is a very important moment.
