@mathzy I've never had play services or even an alternative like MicroG on my #sailfishos device, since 2013. Turns out I never did "need" the play services. Sure, sometimes it would have been convenient to "just use the app"...

But as long as people work around or capitulate to the play services, without complaining to the ones demanding you to use their shitty app, nothing will change.

I have flirted with the idea of a #Jolla phone - I do like the idea of a Linux mobile.

But there are three apps that I need that don't run at all without Google Play Services (GPS).

In #GrapheneOS, I can sandbox these safely with an account-free, permissions-limited GPS - something you can't do with Jolla's #SailfishOS.

Maybe the #EU needs to view GPS as a monopoly and take steps to make future 3rd party non-Google Android apps function without it.

That would certainly be in Jolla's favour.
