This is bad - its not even that the #Police have been sitting on their arses in #Sheffield but they have lost a local officer who kept an eye on the streets, and there seems to be a repeating problem with angry men across this part of #Yorkshire deliberately intimidating female owners of "woke" businesses (I suspect either they daren't target the shops run by Desi lads who will fight their corner, or these shops have already been priced out of the market in that street?)

II think a 'license to practice' for police officers *could* be a good idea; with mandatory renewal & training, it could weed out those officers who have & will corrupt trust in the police...
However, having been part of the 'mandatory' quality assurance system in universities, its also clear there needs to be significant attention to how it is run to forestall individuals & forces gaming the system; it will also need a tough external oversight body!
The new Emma Monk blog explores the issue of the lack of vetting in the Metropolitan Police (with some stark data), the Q. of the role of 'diversity hires' & how this has all be presented in the Right wing press.
