Chronos Vocal Ensemble's next concert is just around the corner! Join us on the evening of Saturday February 7.
Uplifted draws inspiration from its setting: the magnificent, lofty sanctuary of All Saints Cathedral, perfectly suited for choral singing.
Uplifted draws inspiration from our collaborators: Cathedral organist Jeremy Spurgeon and the Canadian-built 1959 Casavant organ he plays.
Uplifted presents music that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the power of music to transcend darkness with music to uplift the soul in troubled times.
The program will include:
Missa Brevis by Kodaly - written and premiered in the dark closing days of WWII Budapest;
Samuel Barber's stunning Agnus Dei - sacred text added by the composer to his well-known Adagio for Strings;
Miserere mei, Deus by Allegri - written in the 17th century for exclusive use in the Sistene Chapel at the Vatican.

Edmonton area folks:
My wife is in school studying to be a psychotherapist and she needs some more in person 1 on 1 practicum hours to graduate on time this fall.
If you know anyone looking for an incredibly wonderful human to add to your student therapist team, please reach out to me and I’ll get you connected!!
#YEG
Edit: She is also open to remote opportunities and has 5+ years experience teaching online.

I learned yesterday that Dr. Bob de Frece passed away earlier this month.
A pillar of the #yeg community, he founded the Greenwood Singers, and lead the U of A Mixed Chorus and Handbell Ringers for... a long, long time. Back to the 1980s?
He touched many Faculty of Education and Department of Music students at the U of A and beyond for decades.
I remember clinics with him and meeting him in passing. He was an inspiration and mentor to many, and he's sorely missed. Bob was 77.
James Handricksen, board member of the Greenwood Singers, joined @jessica and Min Dhariwal on CBC Edmonton's Radio Active earlier this month: https://www.cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-52-radio-active/clip/16191632-remembering-robert-de-frece
. @TheBeaverton Live was fantastic tonight! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Weird venue, though!
