"Carney's word on the environment means nothing, we can't rely on him," Patrick Bonin, Bloc critic for environment, said in French.

"It will probably be billions more in public money for oil companies, it's a testament to how Mr. Carney doesn't care about the environment (...) Not only can people not trust him, but unfortunately there is no credibility when he talks about climate change."

Before Mark Carney's flip-flop, Canada had a "a pretty clear stance" on ending public subsidies to fossil fuel companies; 'extending tax credits to enhanced oil recovery is a "step in the wrong direction"'

Before the budget vote, Steven Guilbeault was dispatched to win Elizabeth May's vote, "having received assurances from Carney's office that tax credits for enhanced oil recovery would not be in the budget or added to it afterwards."

May said Carney's flip-flop amounted to a "significant betrayal" and she now questions his word going forward.

"By inking an agreement with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith for a proposed oil pipeline across BC, despite its opposition, Prime Minister Mark Carney has undermined provincial authority and raised red flags for other partners in the federation"

"That really goes against the spirit and the principles of federal government"

"The move sends the message that the federal government can make significant decisions about a province’s territory without consultation — an approach that is bound to have ongoing ripple effects, especially in Quebec"
