Slowly working our way through Ken Burns' "American Revolution" series. It's as good as you have heard. Three things i learned about Washington crossing the Delaware:

1) He had almost given up hope by the Battle of Trenton, having only half his men left through desertion and other reasons. This was a do or die battle for him.

2) Two men froze to death. They were the only casualties on the Revolutionary side;

3) The crossing was on Christmas.
