The Post Office in our mid Wales town lives inside a Spar owned and run by a company.

They've just admitted that in January they are downsizing our Post Office, reducing staff and services dramatically.

A manager from the company that owns the Spar is visiting it tomorrow, so we're staging a protest of support for the Post Office while they're there, and handing over a petition of over 500 signatures. (There's only about 1,000 people living in the town.)

The protest might not even work, because Royal Mail isn't publicly owned anymore - it's 100% controlled by companies who can do whatever they want. But I'm furious and I'm going anyway.

If you live in/near #Machynlleth, come along - the manager's arriving around 9:30am so we're turning up from 9am.

Home-made protest sign. Brown cardboard with a white rectangle where an address label would go. A giant stamp in the top right corner, with the King's face modified with a black Sharpie to look angry. Text on sign: My home > Post Office ID services by train in a wheelchair > Home again. Pre-refit: 30 mins maximum. From Jan 2026: 3 hours minimum.
