Yesterday I met with a bunch of folks who plan on advocating for politicians, municipalities, journalists, and others to set up accounts on the #fediverse. The focus is on Canada. I'm totally on board for it, because I've long advocated for folks to leave corporate social media, and let's face it... that's an area dominated by US corporations.

Democratic deliberation in Canada is far too important to trust to US corporations.

Calling on MastoCanucks to reach out to MP Dominique O'Rouke to launch an account on Mastodon. The Fediverse is a far superior alternative to X and it appears she would be motivated to switch. We will assist in launching and promoting her account once she gets setup.

But there are many groups who have been working on this initiative for months before the #MastoCanadaGOV tag was even thought of. So we will highlight those groups and promote their activities whenever possible.
