How do you keep track of dates and events in a WIP?

I'm a pantser rather than a plotter, and I work in @scrivenerapp, so I generally don't bother: I just shuffle the order of scrivenings around in the binder until they line up right. If a scrivening refers to events in two plot threads that don't line up, then it needs rewriting to fix that, but as I write multi-threaded plots linearly from start-of-book to end-of-book, that doesn't happen as a rule.

How many screens, may I ask?

@Photo55 @scrivenerapp Only one screen (plus virtual desktops). Due to retinopathy I can't use a wide field of view—most of it ends up in my blind spot.

@cstross @Photo55 @scrivenerapp Scrivener sounds cool! It doesn't seem to be available for Linux though, so can't try it. So I'll just have to stick with Vim and Markdown for now. And \latex for formatting.

@agger @Photo55 @scrivenerapp Scriv for Linux was discontinued ages ago because it accounted for less than 2% of sales. The Windows version reportedly runs under WINE.

There are open-source Scrivener-lite tools like novelWriter but they're a long way behind on features:
