Sometimes. The scene where Persephone discovers Schiller's spinal injuries unit, in "The Apocalypse Codex", scared the crap out of me and I admit I chickened out of following it where it wanted to go.
But usually? Nah, I'm giggling and rubbing my hands together in glee as I describe another mass-crucifixion of burning clowns ...
@cstross yep. dark as fuck. I felt you did a great job of making it very clear how genuinely horrific it was without making it permanently scarring.
Reminded me of the axlotl tanks that the Tleilax use to grow genetically engineered life forms in Dune - though the bene Tleilax didn't have the excuse of having been rootkitted by hive minded aliens from another dimension 馃槵

That one keeps me up at night, and is what I presume the US will evolve to eventually, unless they can come up with a way to make it even more horriffic
