joseph Stiglitz's new report for the G20 (sadly the link from the Guardian is to an insecure URL) points out across the world, that:

'the richest 1% captured 41% of all new wealth since 2000, while the bottom half gained just 1%. On average, someone in the global top 1% became $1.3m richer; a person in the poorest half gained $585'... which as Stiglitz also points out isn't an accident but a choice by the world's political & business class(es).

if I were one of those top 1% I would be extremely worried about the unexpected and sudden precipitation of revolution

it would be in my interests to rebalance inequality so there was less cause for people to be unhappy
