Improvised tea Advent calendar day 3: switching to loose leaf for a sample pack of Friday Afternoon's Snow Day. Spiced chocolate black tea, gotta let it cool a bit but so far it's pretty good.
I got this mug on my wedding weekend from a little local gift shop on Vancouver Island. @Canageek got a similar one with a different glaze.
EDIT: it was the Salish Sea Market in Bowser, BC, and the mugs were made by local artist Katy Fogg.

The sun is out, the woodpeckers are drumming to each other on the pipes outside, I have no way to log in at work and a Hollow Knight let's play to catch up on; I think today's going to be all right.
Today's mug was last year's Christmas present from my in-laws. @Canageek has a matching one.

Improvised tea Advent calendar day 5 is Salted Caramel Lebkuchen from Bird&Blend. Not bad; label says use milk but it's better without.
I got today's mug from a final clearance sale at my former local yarn store. The cup cozy is Shanalines Designs' Modular Coffee Cup Cozy, which I bound off about two minutes before taking this picture.
Improvised tea Advent calendar day 6 is Mojitea, the last of my Bird&Blend calendar leftovers. Not my favorite mint tea, but pretty darn good.
I've run out of new mugs to show off for this year, so the rest of these will be reruns. This one is from Target, from before I knew about their politics.
Improvised tea Advent calendar day 7 is pomegranate white tea from the Friday Afternoon sample pack. Fruitier than I'd like, and I'm enjoying it less as it cools. I think this is the first real miss of the month.
@WizardOfDocs Do you usually drink your tea without milk? (I can imagine having something that tastes like salted caramel Lebkuchen with milk, but then I'm a milky-tea drinker, at least when it's black tea)
@irina I almost never drink tea with milk, because I learned to drink tea on study abroad in China
putting milk in tea makes me feel like I'm covering up a mistake

@WizardOfDocs oh gods above I am not alone in decidedly underbrewing compared to instructions?
@silhelm British instructions, certainly. I developed my tea instincts on study abroad in Beijing.
@WizardOfDocs I only have my tastebuds to blame for my behaviour, I use quite a bit more tea than suggested, brew it for like 30 seconds, and re-brew for 45-60 seconds if I come back to the leaves before they dry out. I get lots of flavour, a good colour, and very little of that sour bitterness.
@silhelm that's basically the classy Chinese way
you're supposed to brew the same leaves three or four times to watch the flavor evolve, but I can't have that much tea in a day.
@WizardOfDocs Works if I am brewing the amount that fits in my chinese travel teapot, lol. The cups that comes with it is like 2 sips for me, but having something to brew in that travels well is nice for my autistic brain that doesn't like travel. And green tea re-brews much better than black, which is what I mostly drink.
@WizardOfDocs @silhelm Even with ordinary breakfast Assam, the second cup is best. (we have one of those things-on-a-stick to put loose-leaf tea in, and I usually have the first cup because I put milk in it anyway, and my other half the second; it will brew a third for whoever wants it but after that it's really spent)
