It’s a bit more than ‘could pose risks’ to all kinds of people who do not fit someone’s personal ideal of what a complete stranger looks like. Every human being in the world, even identical twins, is unique in some way. There is no universal rule which says males/females are a specific height, weight, hairstyle, voice etc. The proposal is unworkable.

@HarriettMB

This paragraph is particularly chilling…

Last month a version leaked to the Times suggested that service providers would be able to question transgender women over whether they should be using single-sex facilities “based on how they look, their behaviour or concerns raised by others”.

The word 'transgender' should be removed from that, because that's how it would work...

Anyone who is deemed to insufficiently conform to someone's interpretation of how a woman 'should' look.

The whole thing is just bonkers - but, hey, what's a little collateral damage as long as they can get to one trans person?! 🤬

@TCMuffin Exactly. That’s why I said it was unworkable and that every human is unique. It’s horrifying, and if enacted, I’m sure there will be a slew of legal cases from all kinds of people whose personal and private information has been challenged by some zealot. I’m not sure any company will want the adverse publicity such cases will bring on their business, and small businesses won’t be able to afford it. Then the #TERF will harass all for not being sufficiently transphobic.

and given the UKs civil law system, the terfs have the money to do this, the victims, much less so.
