Yes, as a former 21st century mountain rescue volunteer and wilderness first responder I regularly lecture the characters on the 1970s TV show "Emergency!" out loud:

"Dude! That rope doesn't reach the ground, and there's no stopper knot!"

"Just a main line? No belay backup? And with hemp rope? Fzzzzzck!"
