The war is going badly. A feature of the global climate system as large as the AMOC is not something that can be changed on a dime. It is after all, slightly larger than a Titanic.

Europe will face next very different climate regime as it falls apart, which it seems to be doing. Is your community preparing for this shift?

EV are not going to matter so much as being able to support yourself without the global economy.

Around here we just pretend it's not already affecting us. We just had a day in February that was 21c. The days before it was about - 28c.

Sure, why not? Just a nice lil spring day for us.

@sb

Yeah, I wonder how many people had to get neck braces for that kind of climate whiplash. It seems like a similar extremes of temperature may have happened in the United States. We had a cold snap a few weeks ago and right now the Western half the United States is going to experience heat that is more familiar to the summer months rather than spring

New Scientist

Shift in the Gulf Stream could signal ocean current collapse

Models show that as the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation gets weaker, the Gulf Stream will drift northwards. There are signs that this is already happening, and a more abrupt shift could warn of more severe climate impacts

How a shift in the Gulf Stream could signal the collapse of a major ocean current system

Changes in the Gulf Stream, a strong ocean current in the Atlantic, could serve as an early warning of the imminent collapse of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). The AMOC is a massive system of ocean currents that acts as a conveyor belt, moving heat from the tropics to the North Atlantic. The part of this system that flows along the east coast of the United States and then east toward Europe is the Gulf Stream. Scientists are concerned that if the AMOC were to collapse, it could trigger drastic climate shifts, especially in Europe, where temperatures could plummet.
