Sea surface temperatures across the northern Atlantic were still warmer than any years since the mid-1800s in December, but they remain well below their recent peak... a good reminder of both climate change and variability.

Extended Reconstructed Sea Surface Temperature (ERSST)

The Extended Reconstructed Sea Surface Temperature (ERSST) dataset is a global monthly analysis of SST data derived from the International Comprehensive Ocean鈥揂tmosphere Dataset (ICOADS). The dataset can be used for long-term global and basin-wide studies and incorporates smoothed local and short-term variations.
Green line graph time series of average sea surface temperature anomalies for each December from 1850 through 2025 for only the North Atlantic. There is large interannual variability, but an overall long-term increasing trend. Anomalies are computed relative to a 1981-2010 baseline.

@ZLabe Most people fail to understand such variability, and that snow and ice are still possible, even becoming more severe, while average temperatures (and atmospheric moisture) climb. Hence, people claiming to refute climate change because snow is forecast in places like coastal #virginia and #northcarolina.

#Virginia #Democrats are determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with this new #guncontrol #bill. Do I have any liberal gun owners here? Please contact your reps to register your opposition.

This would normally be a political loser but NOW? After these ICE murders they want me to give them up? The fuck?
