Oversights by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame

The original post from 2011, listed further below, identifies those performers that were missing from the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame at that time. Fortunately, some 12.5 years later, nearly all of them have been added. So…who is still missing that should be inducted? Well here’s my new list of rock performers deserving be inducted (presented in alphabetical order):

• Bad Company (inducted in 2025)
• Boston
• Cyndi Lauper (inducted in 2025)
• Death Cab for Cutie
• Foreigner (inducted in 2024)
• Garbage
• Golden Earring
• Grand Funk Railroad
• INXS
• Joy Division
• No Doubt
• Oasis
• Sonic Youth
• Styx
• The Bangles
• The Cranberries
• The Monkees – It would be nice to induct them while one member is still alive.
• The Smashing Pumpkins
• Weezer

Keep in mind that musicians become eligible for the hall of fame 25 years after the release of their first album. Hopefully most, if not all of these great musical artists will be inducted sooner versus later. Some, are long overdue for this honor. Peace!

Is it a rock ‘n’ roll hall of shame or just a sham?

Another year for my annual rant about who has not been included in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. While I have no problem with Guns n’ Roses or Red Hot Chili Peppers being inducted this year (both deserve it), there are a number of great performers that keep being left out.

I listed these musicians last year, but will note them yet again in another apparently vain attempt to wake somebody up in Cleveland. It just confounds the crap out of me that these bands/performers have not recognized for their amazing contributions to rock ‘n’ roll. I still refuse to go there until they add at least a few of these artists.

• Pat Benatar (Inducted in 2022)
• Cheap Trick (Inducted in 2016)
• Def Leppard (Inducted in 2019)
• The Cure (Inducted in 2019)
• Rush (Inducted in 2013)
• Carole King (Inducted in 2021)
• Yes (Inducted in 2017)
• Doobie Brothers (Inducted in 2020)
• KISS (Inducted in 2014)

Will also add a few more oversights to last year’s list, including:

• Journey (Inducted in 2017)
• Todd Rundgren (Inducted in 2021)
• The Go-Go’s (Inducted in 2021)
• Joy Division
• Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (Inducted in 2015)
• Duran Duran (Inducted in 2022)
