Are there any software projects that people would be willing to pay a small weekly or monthly contribution to support me while I develop it? I need a way to feed my family, and I don't like asking for handouts.

Please respond with ideas of things you'd like to see exist, that you'd be willing to contribute an ongoing nonzero amount towards, and boost for reach. If you don't have idea of your own, that's fine. Boosting will still help!

My skills include Python programming, data munging (file transfers, SQL, reporting, ETL, etc.), and machine learning (not just neural networks -- *all* the types).

My passions center on research and ML algorithm development, but that's not likely to be directly useful to a lot of individuals.

I'm good at back end development, writing libraries that other devs can use, that sort of thing, but if I got enough support for a project, I could profit share with someone who does front end work (the stuff you actually see, for those who aren't familiar with the terminology).

Oh, and I'm also good at documentation and effective communication of tech to non-tech folks.

Also, I am a seasoned musician, with moderate guitar skills, an excellent voice, good songwriting skills, and possibly some voice acting talent. I am comfortable using these skills separately or in conjunction with my ML/programming skills.

A couple of games or game-related projects I've worked on in the past:

* Mazes and maze solving
* Simulations of open-ended evolution
* Cellular automata (like Conway's Game of Life)

I've written software for myself in the past that used automated file downloads of my bank activity which used rule-based methods to predict when bills and paychecks would align to make money tight or whether I could afford a new expense.

And then there's the thing I have done since I was 16 and will never stop unless I literally can't: create novel machine learning algorithms from scratch. Things that work differently from existing methods, meaning they have unique strengths and weaknesses and can fill niche requirements that existing algorithms can't. For example, I've done a lot of work on explainable/interpretable ML -- stuff that not only learns, but then you can read or visualize what it learned and actually understand what it's doing.
