@chad something not enough people appreciate was that the carbon tax was a wealth transfer from rich people who burn lots of fuel to poor people who don’t. Scrapping it basically kneecapped our welfare system, contributing to some of the social strife we’re seeing these days.
So I look at this as an effort to patch up the hole left by scrapping the carbon tax.
