In a political reality where rejoining isn't possible, I'm hugely impressed by how Starmer's handling the #EU. We're building much closer inroads and softening the harsh edges of #Brexit and successfully navigating the ugly domestic politics around it.

Domestic accomplishments aside, these resets with the EU, China, and India while managing the US relationship are likely to be viewed as historically important accomplishments in the future.

Starmer vows to take UK deeper into EU single market

Seemingly buoyed by a positive reception and a smaller-than-anticipated backlash, the British PM is now doubling down on his Brexit reset.

This relationship building with the EU is good on its own merit, with which even some staunchly ardent brexiteers agree, but long term I think it eases the eventual path to rejoining greatly.

I don't think we're going to be able to do that inside ~10 years — and trying to do so now would be devastating for our politics, massively buoying Reform and accelerating our downward spiral into far right populism — but every step in this direction looks good to me.
