I have flirted with the idea of a #Jolla phone - I do like the idea of a Linux mobile.

But there are three apps that I need that don't run at all without Google Play Services (GPS).

In #GrapheneOS, I can sandbox these safely with an account-free, permissions-limited GPS - something you can't do with Jolla's #SailfishOS.

Maybe the #EU needs to view GPS as a monopoly and take steps to make future 3rd party non-Google Android apps function without it.

That would certainly be in Jolla's favour.

A new long-awaited (and long negotiated) trade deal between India & the EU looks to have been pushed over the finish line by the antics of the Tangerine Tyrant.

Its yet one more example of the acceleration of moves to de-centre the USA from many countries' (and blocks') strategic trade plans.

Its not so much these are new moves, but the finalisation of treaties & agreements represents a response that diverts trade away from the USA & will unlikely reverse.

Mark Rutte (NATO SG) has Europeans to stop 'dreaming' they can defend Europe without the USA's help.

He sees a move to develop an independent security strategy as likely to fail, because, as he righty points out, it would be very expensive; he suggests 10% of GDP across the EU.

But perhaps this is the 'rupture' that Mark Carney means - time for Europe to be clearer about the expense of defence?

(Which of course is also Trump's line, which may be where Rutte got it from?)
