🌐 With the introduction of #ageverification laws in many U.S. states, these systems use automated scanning to verify the authenticity and legitimacy of your ID.

🏳️‍⚧️ Transgender and gender diverse people from Kansas will effectively have to out themselves to every platform that requires age verification. This is sensitive information that many #trans people guard closely, as being outed publicly can put them at risk of violence and harassment. ‼️

@privacyguides there is no "COULD force trans people to out themselves". The system is specifically designed to do so. The cruelty is the point. This was never about protecting children, but always has been a lame excuse for mass surveillance and mass targeting of dissidents. Age verification is a fascist tool to systematically identify and break people who oppose them. It's a tool straight out of Orwells worst nightmares.

🤖 Automated systems meant to spot inconsistencies in identity documents may pose challenges for transgender individuals whose appearances don’t align with outdated gender markers on their ID.

These systems have already shown bias against people of color and gender-diverse individuals. This could create additional hurdles for marginalized communities that often find refuge in online environments. 🏳️‍⚧️
