Mastodon has a built-in system to prevent you seeing the same post boosted again and again. However, this system allows a boost to reappear after 40 other posts have scrolled through your timeline.
This worked fine in the old days when Mastodon was much quieter, but nowadays Mastodon is much busier and 40 posts can scroll quite quickly.
Here's a guide on workarounds for dealing with repeated boosts:

a gem from the glory days of early mastodon
a gem from the glory days of early mastodon
Hi, I'm new on #Mastodon, but I was in love with decentralized social networks even before the #Fediverse term was created. Remember #Identica? ;)
Not many posts here yet, just a quick intro:
* I post in german (native) & english (german).
* topics: #photography, #music, #politics, #stupidjokes.
* I test also #Pixelfed at @haschek@pixelfed.social & @haschek@gram.social
My old proprietary accounts for reference:
So, less antagonistic to the nutter neighbour.
I am considering an A2 (so way smaller than the A1 I was considering) snap frame on the gate.
And this poster...
Comments?
[and do I need planning permission?]
Basically, the posters when the nutter did his stuff were more engaging than Facebook, to be honest. A new "physical" social media maybe.
Oh, and a locked clip frame so no midnight raids.

You do not have to use Mastodon through its official mobile app!
There are many other ways of using your Mastodon account, and most people who try the alternatives tend to prefer them.
The most popular alternatives are third party apps and your server's own website. These tend to have more features and faster updates. You can find out more at:
However you access Mastodon, it's still your same account and same server 🙂
If you think about changing instances: in the @fedilab app, you can follow any instance, so you can stalk if that's a good instance for you.
Click a users profile, click the 3dots on the top right and click Follow Instance

tl;dr: following an instance
I wrote here how to follow a complete instance timeline via @apps , which is for me an absolute killer feature.
Has any other app like @Tusky @IceCubesApp or @ivory this feature?
If yes please add it to the original thread, thank you.
On the official @Mastodon app I haven't seen this feature.
Do you have any tips for this @FediTips please link it too,thx

And all of this to answer @johannab question.

For communities, this becomes even more powerful.
A community can run its own Fediprofile hub.
Profiles can include:
• social links
• badges
• gamification
• streaks
• recognitions
All tied to the community.
--
Example: a hiking community.
Imagine a fediprofile hub for mountain hikers where members can:
• show their trail badges
• track hiking streaks
• share gear links
• display summit achievements
Combine that with a badge issuer and maybe a #Mastodon and/or #PixelFed server for the community.
Now you have a decentralized ecosystem.
Mastodon.bd is finally up and running.
It’s the first Bangladesh-focused Mastodon instance on the fediverse. I’ve been wanting to see something like this exist for a long time, so it feels good to finally put it online.
Even though the focus is Bangladesh, the instance is open to everyone, regardless of where you’re from.
Is your timeline a bit empty? Do you want it to be filled with interesting posts and nice accounts?
Here's a simple non-technical guide to all the different ways you can discover accounts to follow on Mastodon and the wider Fediverse:
There's no algorithm on here so discovering people and posts may take a bit more effort, but it also tends to produce higher quality more humane results.
If I've missed a method let me know 🙂
This is a bonfire demo instance for testing purposes. This is not a production site. There are no backups for now. Data, including profiles may be wiped without notice. No service or other guarantees expressed or implied.
