In honor of Saint Patrick’s day, I wanted to make a post introducing people to some books and research which talk about the monastic connection between Ireland and Egypt. As early as the 7th century there is mention of “seven Egyptian monks in Desert Uilaidh” in the Litany of the Céile Dé from within the Book of Leinster. Recent findings have revealed that the similarities and connections are backed up by archeological and philogical studies.
