The Egyptian Desert in the Irish Bogs: The Byzantine Character of Early Celtic Monasticism Here is an another book which creates the arguement for how Celtic Christianity was influenced by Byzantine and Coptic monks. Here, the author, an ordained Orthodox Christian priest, takes a more ecclesiastical approach, focusing on the lives of saints, including Saint Patrick. In addition, it also explores travel literature authored by medieval monks who traveled the known world and how the monastisc seen in Ireland is very similar to what is found in Eastern Orthodox communities.
