@ascentale @rasterweb @bikenite A6. I haven’t done a lot of group rides. The largest was *maybe* 20 people earlier this fall? It was organized by @CycleWR as a part of a bike day in downtown Kitchener, Ontario.
There are no cycling-related holiday events in #WaterlooRegion that I know of, but @CycleWR is planning a winter group ride, probably in the new year. There's nothing on their website yet, though: https://cyclewr.ca/
@ascentale @bikenite A8: this last week wasn't anything unusual but did go to First Thursdays art walk last night which was fun. As far as a photo - this one was in my camera roll of a funny sign in SOMA #BikeNite
@ascentale @bikenite A2. Not that I know of here in Waterloo Region. But we have a lot of snow on the ground, and not everyone here is into cycling in winter. @bobjonkman may know better though?

@ascentale Thanks, Phil! And thanks to everyone who shares their answers here. 😀🚴🏼♀️❤️
@rasterweb asks:
Tomorrow is the "Santa Rampage" bike ride in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Last year we had over 2,000 people riding (most dressed as Santa!)
Q6. What is the largest group ride you've ever done?

I’ve been seeing a lot of photos of biking in snow, which made me curious:
Q7. What equipment do you need to bike in snow? Wide tires? Studded tires? Does that also work on ice? Do you keep your bike set up this way all winter?

@pete asks:
Q4. Do you own any cycling-related memorabilia? And/or keep souvenirs from your own cycling endeavours that may or may not become a priceless heirloom?

Our bike coalition is putting together a collection of bike-themed books for gifts, as well as other bike-themed gift ideas.
Q5. What’s your favorite book related to an aspect of biking? What’s your favorite bike gift?

@ascentale @grammasaurus @bikenite A5. I’ve enjoyed many cycling-related books over the years. But one that has maybe stuck with me the most is Frostbike: The Joy, Pain and Numbness of Winter Cycling , by Tom Babin. It's beautifully written, and covers history, practical advice, and Tom’s personal journey with winter cycling. I’ve recommended it here before.
Bicycle Diaries, by David Byrne, is another that has stuck with me.
@ascentale @pete @bikenite A4. I shared this picture here a few weeks ago.
My son gave me a 3D-printed version of the @CyclingGuide logo, which warmed my heart! And my wife gave me a cool little bike model. I keep them both on my desk while I work (though not in front of my monitor as in this staged photo!) 😀🚴🏼♀️❤️
Alright! It's the first #BikeNite of December: Friday, December 5th! Thanks for joining our cycle-related stuff. Answer whenever at your convenience. Anyone can join, now or later. Reply to what you like, and boost for visibility.
Our intro:
Q1. Where are you posting from today? How are you feeling about it being December?
I will be returning to #BikeNiteA later because we are participating in a walking and rolling holiday parade and tree lighting this evening.
Q2. Are there similar holiday-themed cycling events happening near you?

@ascentale @bikenite A1. As is almost always the case, I’m at home in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Waterloo is nestled amongst the Great Lakes, and is currently covered with snow. ❄️☃️
I’m OK with it being December, because in two weeks it will be clear that days are getting longer again! 😀☀️

@bikenite A1, I'm back in Oakland, CA after spending the evening in Emeryville. December scares me because it's a reminder of how fast time flies, but it's also one of my favorite months of the year with the holidays and being able to see family and travel.
What it's meant for me here is that I leave the office in the dark more days than not.. which is a good thing, because that means I can catch sunset over the water more often!
Otherwise, it's chillier, and it's been fairly dry, which is a combination for riding that I don't mind.
