Around the World on a Bicycle by Fred A. Birchmore, 2020
This classic, once hard-to-find travelogue recalls one of the very first around-the-world bicycle treks. Filled with rarely matched feats of endurance and determination, Around the World on a Bicycle tells of a young cyclist's ever-changing and maturing worldview as he ventures through forty countries on the eve of World War II.

Around the World on a Bicycle, From Teheran to Yokohama by Thomas Stevens, 2008
Thomas Stevens was the first person to circle the globe by bicycle. He rode a large-wheeled Ordinary, also known as a penny-farthing, from April 1884 to December 1886 He later searched for Henry Morton Stanley in Africa, investigated the claims of Indian ascetics and became manager of the Garrick Theatre in London.

And our last question of the week:
Q8. Show us a photo from something cycle-related from the past week! It doesn't have to be anything special at all.
If you'd like to, share one and tell us about it!
#BikeNiteQ #BikeNite #BikeTooter #Cycling #MastoBikes cc @bikenite
@doris asks:
Q6. Have you ever had a "Bike of Theseus": a bike where you've eventually replaced every part of it that it's completely different to the bike you've originally had?
Inspired by the Ship of Theseus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus
(If you haven't, do you have anything that comes close?)

@forth asks:
I know we've had winter biking questions in the past, but I'm wondering specifically about studded tires and the alternatives - DIY studs, chains, zip ties.
Q5. Am I forgetting any alternatives? Does anyone have experience from which to compare them? (studded tires or studded tire alternatives!)

@drgeraint asks:
Q3. Is there a bit of road that you just hate cycling on?
For me, a short stretch of southbound Mearns Rd at Mearns Kirk. Slight rise, poor surface, from Eaglesham Rd to the roundabout:

Just horrible for a fraction of a minute.
Meanwhile, I just love Mearns Rd up by Hazelden, in either direction:

@bobjonkman asks:
I'd love to try railbiking, but don't have (nearby) abandoned rail tracks, and no outriggers, and no skill or equipment to make them. Lots of people do, tho.

Q4. Have you ever railbiked? Built a railbike outrigger? Got photos?
