“It comes as a grassroots separatist movement in Alberta gathers signatures to force a succession referendum in October.”
That's secession, BBC.
This is excellent though.
"During the meeting with King Charles on Wednesday, First Nations chiefs asked the monarch to issue a Royal Proclamation that would affirm their treaties with the Crown and the rights that are afforded under them, they said.
"It was a significant meeting, as Treaty partners and equals," said Grand Chief Pete in a statement.”
Good on First Nations for making it abundantly clear who their treaties are with! The MAGA-wannabe traitors have no say.
the King was "very interested in what we had to say and asked a lot of questions".
In this brief moment, I'll drop my opposition to the continuation of our constitutional monarchy, as antiquated as it is. This highlights, though, that if the Windsor's were ever to disappear, or our country chose to represent ourselves fully, then this very question of Indigenous treaty rights would be something we would need to solve together legally and in perpetuity.
