"Coun. Gord Perks, vice-chair of the budget committee, said the issue is the city is still responsible for most of its infrastructure, yet receives the least amount of its residents’ taxes."

The learned helplessness when it comes to property taxes is frustrating.

The city has the powers to raise the revenue it needs, it just doesn't want to.

The city wants someone else to pay for it, same as it ever was.

Toronto Star

Doug Ford taking over the Gardiner was supposed to ease Toronto’s repair backlog. So why is it growing in 2026?

Spending on the city’s 10-year capital budget is due to hit a historic high in 2026 — the second year in a row, despite the $9-billion “new deal” signed in 2023

“Riders don’t care about divided responsibilities; they just want good, reliable service.

Toronto council wants to encourage more transit use for a growing city, but the credibility of transit depends on systems that work.”

Not-so-rapid Transit on Finch

Why is the new Line 6 so slow, what’s being done to fix it, and will the Eglinton LRT be as bad? Transit expert Steve Munro digs into the nitty-gritty.
