The big difference re: #music is that unlike #movies or a series, is that #licensing, even for #commercial use, is relatively straight-forward.

• Worst-case I send an eMail to #GEMA and request a quote, since they are the one-stop licensing option for music.
• That doesn't exist for #movies nor is there a #FRAND-style licening mandate that would provide #consumers with a fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory access to a licensed copy to keep for a one-time-purchase.
  • Instead the #Copyrightmafia wants to "have their cake and eat it too" by charging huge fees for #BlankMedia whilst criminalizing #Copying directly and indirectly [ #DRM vircumvention as #felony]!

Joined Mastodon a couple of weeks ago but just moved servers, so here is my #introductions post (again)!

I am a #music lover, a #rambler, a #gig and #festival goer, a #scifi #geek, a #gamer and a #beer drinker from #Derby #UK.

I'll be mainly posting random thoughts about #nerd stuff, #TV, #movies, #games, #retro or whatever pops into my head.

Recently took part in #Inktober, didn't draw a Mastodon but I did do a baby Armadillo.

As others said, a film starring a mostly Black cast *and* a horror film (a genre the Academy views as "not best picture" material, despite "thrillers" like "Silence of the Lambs" winning such), and up against the type of film Hollywood (at least) loves seemed like a stretch for best picture? 🤷‍♂️

Hitmen Ken, Ray are in Bruges to cool their heels after a job.
Eventually main man Harry comes and things get dark. Very dark.

The slow-paced, well scripted, character-driven, violent, and often subtly funny plot has plenty of twists.

The Agfa chrome palette is beautiful, the cinematography skillful.

It’s too bad that the women characters are either bimbos or cyphers and Ray's character flip seems so artificial.

And then there are the Canadians. Lol.
