This is capitalism. First they monopolize our infrastructure to force us into dependency, then jack up the cost of their created need, driving out and demonizing all alternatives. Not naturally but through power, influence, and countless billions in lobbies.
Present day #capitalism is dependent on a coercive state. The coercive state is dependent on capitalism.
If car ownership feels impossible, now consider that getting around the city by any means feels impossible. If you're in a car you're stuck in traffic, if you're on a bus you're stuck in traffic, if you're on a bike you're stuck in traffic, and if you're on foot you're not allowed to walk anywhere.
Somehow people have been convinced that the only way to get around all this car traffic is to induce more car traffic, and further demonize other means of transportation and their users. This complete disassociation from reason and logic doesn't come naturally, it was paid for by the auto industry.

"AI psychosis" is one of those terms that is incredibly useful and also almost certainly going to be deprecated in smart circles in short order because it is: a) useful; b) easily colloquialized to describe related phenomena; and c) adjacent to medical issues.There's a group of people who feel very strongly any metaphor that implicates human health is intrinsically stigmatizing and must be replaced with an awkward, lengthy phrase that no one can remember and only insiders understand.

@smallcircles private property social media is *designed* to make you stay there as long as possible — creating familiarity and making you remember and think about it more frequently.
Since #fediverse intent to be healthier, it does't break your #autonomy about your time and probably never makes you addicted. The consequence is that it's harder to stay using it more than how much we used corporate social media. Plus, the fact that popular people aren't much here.
Both of the things we "lack of" are interesting only for #capitalism , not the liberating place we're making.
What I think can be done about Fediverse popularity is attracting more progressive and popular people here — by actually presenting it to them.
