Cover reveal! We've edited this book for modern readers. It's an important documentation of African cultures. The original, written 100yrs ago by a racist anthropologist, had a lot of problematic texts, misinformation, and hallucinations of colonialists. We had to weed all that out, and it was a hectic job that took so much longer that planned. Now we are done, the cover is here, and now we hope to release it in a few weeks. What are some of your favourite legends, fairy tales, or pieces of folklore?

I think the Loch Ness monster stories from the Scottish Highlands are cool.

My favourite scientific explanation for some of the sightings is fermenting Scots pine logs that rise up in the lake as they decompose.

Apparently, they’re just the right size and shape to be mistaken for a lake monster!

Zoom on “Eldritch Spirits”, one of three new prints. 🌲

The original was created with gouache and coloured pencil as part of my last October challenge.

Prints are available in two different formats, on archival cotton paper: https://lindenshieldarts.com/products/fine-arts-prints-dark-whimsy

A corner of the same print as well as part of a sketchbook page, surrounded by conifer branches, a hag stone, and coloured pencils. The sketchbook page shows a couple thumbnail sketches, one of them loosely corresponding to the print, as well as a close-up of the horned creature.

A photo of a portrait-format print, placed on a wooden desk and surrounded by a corner of another print, branches, moss, leaves, hag stones, and a rock quartz. The print shows the dark silhouette of a giant horned creature rising out of the mist above a mountain conifer forest and a moody, grassy field.
